Confirmation Preparation for Teens Begins October 2, 2011 Preparation for Confirmation Confirmation preparation for teens at St. Mary Magdalen Parish/St. John Mission follows the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of Seattle and is a two-year process. For the first year, students in their freshman year of high school should be regularly attending Youth Group on Sunday evenings. During the second year of preparation in the sophomore year, confirmation candidates must have an attendance of 90% in order to be ready for Confirmation in the month of May. Confirmation preparation supplements and reinforces the catechetical preparation teens have been receiving from their parents. While parents are the primary educators of their children and are irreplaceable in providing witness and testimony to the their children about Jesus Christ, Saint Mary Magdalen Parish/Saint John Mission’s Youth Ministry is committed to helping teens discover and rediscover what God has revealed to the world. Through faith formation classes, liturgical and prayer opportunities, and service projects for the community, teens are prepared to welcome the gifts of the Holy Spirit and motivated to bring the Gospel through word and deed to a world starving for the fullness of Truth. |
