Religious Education - Preschool to 8th Grade

Welcome to the website for St Mary Magdalen’s Office of Religious Education/Faith Formation for children . We provide a full program for the faith formation of children from preschool (3, 4 and 5 year olds) through the 8th Grade. Our classes run from mid-September to mid-May. We follow the Everett School District schedule for holidays.

Our preschool program runs on Sundays during the 10am mass. The elementary/middle school program for students who attend public schools runs on Monday nights from 7 to 8pm.

An important part of our ministry is preparing children to receive first reconciliation (first confession) and first eucharist (first communion). All children must have had one full year of faith formation in order to begin preparations for receiving first reconciliation and first eucharist in the 2nd grade.

If you have an older student in grades 4-8 who has not yet received first reconciliation or first eucharist, we also have a class to prepare them to receive those sacraments. They also must have had one year of faith formation prior to enrolling in our older students sacraments class. All students must be baptized Catholics. For those who are not baptized, or have been baptized in another faith tradition, their parents must first contact Sr. Maribeth Carson.

All families with students in our program must be registered parishioners.

As part of our program we celebrate special liturgies and paraliturgies throughout the year for Thanksgiving, Advent, Lent and the end of the year. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend these special celebrations with their children.

The first week in August is set aside for Vacation Bible School. This program runs for a full week from 9am to noon daily and ends with a family picnic on the last day.

An important part of our program are the parent volunteer catechists and helpers. If you would like to be a part of our program, please contact us for more information. We have been very blessed with catechists who return each year, but we can always use help
