Ensuring a Safe Environment

Safe Environment policies, protocols, and practices play a crucial role in the Catholic Church’s work to safeguard the dignity and well-being of all people, particularly vulnerable populations such as children and individuals with disabilities. These policies encompass a range measures designed to:

  • protect all through prevention of abuse, misconduct, and negligence within the Church

  • enable quick, efficient, and effective response to allegations and complaints

  • foster a culture of accountability and transparency

  • ensure that the Church remains a place of true refuge and support for all who seek solace and spiritual guidance.

Policies in place in our parish and throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle include thorough background checks, training programs on recognizing and reporting abuse, and clear protocols for handling allegations of misconduct, including mandatory collaboration with relevant authorities.

By prioritizing the safety and well-being of its members and those whom it serves, the Church works to keep its commitment to its core values of compassion, justice, and respect for human dignity.
